i have shown my first draft of my contents page to a focus group and these are the ideas they gave me to help me improve it;

• ALL photos need to be edited with adobe photoshop
• make everything fit on page
• colour at top of page, not white
• good pictures
• good clear page numbers

this is the first draft of my contents page where i have used adobe photoshop to edit some of the photos, i have used a big masthead at the top of the page so readers can see what it is and down one side have put the page numbers of where everything is going to be in the magazine.

second draft of music front cover (finished)

this is my end product of my music front cover, i have tried to listen to my focus group although i have kept the dark background, the bright yellow lure and the band names in red because i think the red and yellow stands out well against the black so it can attract the audience better, and i think it is a good idea to keep the artists name in the same colour because otherwise there would be too many colours and it would look too busy, i have also had to change the band names to made up names because i wasn't allowed to use them.

this is the first draft of my front cover, i have looked at other magazines to see how they have laid it out. i have used a big masthead at the top of page and a strapline above it, at the bottom of the page i have used a lure which is in bright yellow which stands out against the black background so it could attract more people. also the red against the black stands out so readers can see what artists are in the magazine.

this is my finished contents page, i have listened to my focus group and have tried to match it to my front cover, so i have changed it from the blue to a more lighter black because some people thought it was too dark to start with

i have shown my second draft of my contents page to another focus group because i felt as though it didnt match well with the front cover, and wanted ways to improve it;

this is also a good contents page because it has good pictures down the middle of what things are going to be in the magazine, they have a masthead so you know what it is and it has the other things that feature in the magazine down both sides of the pictures, the colours that they have used are also good and link in well with the magazine itself, as the green represents the countryside of Devon. i think that this one is much more clear to understand than the other one and ia laid out clearer.

i like this contents page because it has a good range of pictures showing you what is inside the magazine, and what pages they are on, and then it has all the other main peices that are in the magazine down one side, this makes it easy to understand and follow. however i feel that a title of 'contents page' is needed so that people know what it is.

second draft of front cover (finished)

this is my second draft, and my finished peice of my school front cover, i have taken on board what people have said about it and have tried to change it. i have taken out the blue boxes around the text, and have linked the picture at the bottom to something and it is now like a lure, because some people may buy the magazine just for the free poster. i have made the masthead bigger so it is clear what the magazine name is. however, even though some people didn't like the red font, i have decided to keep it because i think it goes well with the black background and red is also part of the school colours so i think it fits in well.

this magazine is quite good because it has a big masthead at the top of the page, to show what magazine it is. It is justified on both right and left which makes it more neat and tidy, also the lure at the bottom of the page could pursuade people to buy it because they want to win the prize.
